“Fractal Droid” is a large-scale mixed media sculpture funded by a 2022 Honoraria Program grant. This giant humanoid head features futuristic geometric designs on its visor and comes alive with projection mapping that displays moving digital artwork. Its mystical eyes, powered by LIDAR technology, track and interact with viewers. At its base, a microphone podium encourages interaction, allowing people to converse with the droid. Custom-trained AI and a team of animators and technologists bring “Fractal Droid” to life, offering real-time, human-like engagement. The installation prompts viewers to reflect on the evolving relationship between humans and technology.
